Posted long ago, brought back to life by Jon S

(scott) as I said yesterday, I think it's late enough in the game that I should likely start reposting some of my old stuff, not that I'm running low by any means, but late-comers to the fair might have missed some great shit that went by the wayside while they knew not of this wonderful blog's existence.

Hence, Jon S sends in "Saturday Morning Cartoon's Greatest Hits", which I posted here God knows, 4, 5 years ago? It's high time it comes back, too, because there is some great shit on it......I remember writing it up before, and the highlights still ring true-Matthew Sweet's take on "Scooby Doo",( who on earth was EVER better to perform the Scooby Doo song than Matthew Sweet?), basically the same arguement with Liz Phair's "Tra-La-La Song", another perfect artist/material selection (have I ever mentioned that as long as I have a face, Liz Phair will never lack for a place to sit? I have? Well, plan on hearing it more, A LOT MORE, I LOVE LIZ PHAIR!)......oh, where was I? Oh, yeah, the album.....The Ramones fab take on "Spiderman" could have been written to order, Sublime (again, a PERFECT choice) take on "Hong Kong Phooey", and the fab combo of Tonya Donnelly and Juliana Hatfield turn in a stellar "Josie and the Pussycats"........oh my, not only all that but we get Violent Femmes, Sponge, Tripping Daisy.......what in the fuck are you waiting for? If you missed it first time, here IS your chance to redeem yourself!

BTW-am I right or wrong?- I think there was another collection similar to this one, different artists and tunes, but same format......let me look around, that really does ring a bell, but even if, this is the better set, so don't miss!
