line at the time)......it was BADASS (Reggae Woman part 2), and now Cliff comes through with some Live "Roots Reggae".......Cliff's submissions are ALWAYS 1000% brilliant, who the hell doesn't love some reggae, especially when presented by an expert like Cliff.......Cliff, I know that for a month or so I couldn't talk to any of my contributors, so let me use this opportunity to tell you that I love all the work you have done for this blog, I hope you NEVER leave me (same as I say to all my other team members), just thanks so much for what you do.........can't wait to hear these tomorrow (along with the Arthur Lee stuff, work MAY be semi-enjoyable tomorrow!).......anyway thanks Cliff, you are one of the true reasons this blog rocks! (Hope all is good health-wise my brother)

Recorded at London's Notting Hill Carnvial in 1983. "Live and Direct" see Aswad in their heyday. They took the best of Jamaican reggae music-it's rhythms, instrument sounds, chord structures, and harmonies-and gave it a British relevance. It may not be the best live reggae album out there but there is something infectuous about it. Aswad had a sweet and soulful reggae sound, which used minor keys, a brass section, and multi-part vocal harmonies that made them a hard sound to resist.

MISTY IN ROOTS "Misty Over Sweden" may not quite reach the heights of the best live reggae album ever, their own Live at Counter Eurovision, but it is still up there in the top echelons of live reggae albums. I love Misty in Roots and they played a large part in getting a young white lad in the UK in the late 1970's into reggae. This Captures the band in top form and is taken from 2 gigs in Gothenberg and Linkoping in 1979.
